The Project | Jury Comments

The Jasper Place Library offers a provocative approach to place-making that radically departs from its suburban surroundings, both formally and spatially, with a unique free-form concrete shell structure that will surely be considered a landmark of sorts. The project is visually striking and one can imagine being drawn toward it, especially at night. Large areas of glass provide ample day lighting. The project is described as the "social heart" of the community and one can see how this would be – libraries have always been considered to be just that. The library collection is used to define interior social spaces within an open and flexible space plan.
